How I lost 6 Kgs (13 pounds) in 4 weeks

Over the last couple of years, I put on a ton of weight. Munched on anything I could lay my hands on. Tried my bit like everyone, hitting the gym once in a while but was never consistent in doing so or following the right diet. I used to watch a ton of videos on Calisthenics workouts and admire people likeĀ Frank Medrano, fitness models likeĀ Nick BatemanĀ and even actors likeĀ Tiger ShroffĀ andĀ Vidyut JammwalĀ for their strength and physique. I would have watched this video of Frank at least a 100 times over the years ā€”

Every year during January, I would make a resolution to be more fit that year, but failed every single year. Same happened this year as well!.

In November this year, I decided it was time that I stopped admiring other peopleā€™s fitness and physique and let otherā€™s admire my physique and fitness.Ā I decided to do menā€™s physique (which is lean muscular) not bodybuilding (Iā€™m not bulking up, just shredding). I have always been training at gyms where the trainers have never accomplished what they promise to help you accomplish. I decided to train with someone who has accomplished what he promises. To accomplish anything, I believe you need a good mentor. To be the best at what you do, you got to learn from the best. Decided to train with this yearā€™sĀ Musclemania AsiaĀ Physique champion ā€”Ā Yuvaprakash Angamuthu. Known for his natural physique, He also wonĀ Musclemania IndiaĀ physique 2015 and 2016.

Yesterday marked 4 weeks since I started training with him from November.Ā As the saying goes,Ā If you want to have something in your life you never had before, You got to be willing to do things youā€™ve never done before.

This is one of the most challenging things that I have ever undertaken in my life. I train 6 days a week. I travel 25 kms (15 miles) a day to train under him. I used to hate cooking.Ā But started cooking and prep my own meals every day. My lunch, evening snack and dinner is the same meal. My breakfast has been the same every day for the last 4 weeks as well. Although Iā€™m allowed one cheat meal per week of 1000ā€“1200 calories. Iā€™m yet to take a cheat meal. I want to have my first cheat meal on Christmas. Thatā€™s how bad I want to do it, this time.Ā Anything worth having in your life doesnā€™t come that easy.

Already seeing great results. I was 82 kgs(180 pounds) on November 1, today at 76.1 kgs (167 pounds). 6 kgs(13 pounds) down in 4 weeks.Ā I have not been starving myself to reduce weight.Ā I eat 5 meals a day but have to measure everything I eat using a digital kitchen scale.Ā My body fat was at 26.8% on November 1, was 22.6% a week ago. Should now be around 20% Iā€™m guessing (yet to measure).

If there is one thing I have learned from the last 4 weeks, itā€™s physical change starts with mental change.

The hardest thing is when I go out to a meeting or hang out with friends and watch them munch on things I canā€™t have.Ā

Learning to control your mind to not give into temptations. If you can learn to control your mind both while in the gym and while eating, you are going to make it.Ā

To me right now my body is a temple and I will not defile it.Ā This monthā€™s diet is next monthā€™s body.Ā I train my mind at the gym every day.Ā When my body says Iā€™m done while doing a workout, my mind says I can do a few more reps.

The other important thing is to have the right attitude. If you are doing it right you will feel the pain each time you workout. If you donā€™t feel the pain when you workout, I like to believe you are not doing it right. I look at pain as a sign of weakness leaving my body. I know each time I feel the pain, Iā€™m becoming stronger than before.Ā I know that all of this effort and pain will be worth it in the coming months.

AsĀ Arnold SchwarzeneggerĀ once said, ā€œThe mind always fails first, not the body. The secret is to make the mind work for you and not against you.ā€Ā I have a lot of respect for people who do this day in and day out for years naturally like me without taking any steroid injections. RESPECT!

Iā€™m not putting this post up to get your likes and comments but doing it since I fear Iā€™m going to fail like every time. Iā€™m human after all!.Ā Iā€™m someone who dislikes going back on my word.Ā Putting it out here for everyone to know, makes me liable to do it and not give up.Ā Usually, I give up in the first 2 weeks. This time I crossed 4 weeks and this is slowly becoming a daily routine/habit. Sometimes I workout twice a day, because Iā€™m not happy with the way I worked out in the morning.

I started my new year resolutions early. I will do it in the new year is just an excuse to procrastinate that I used every single year. But decided on November 1st, to not do that again. On my calendar, 2018 started on November 1, 2017. If you are like me, always wanted to accomplish something but failed every year. I urge you to start right now and not wait until New year.

The time to make a change happen in your life is
not next year,
not next month,
not next week,
not tomorrow,
itā€™s not even today,
ITā€™S RIGHT NOW!

The greatest amount of wasted time is the time not getting started. So start now! A little progress each day adds up to big results.

It takes 4 weeks for you to see the change.
It takes 8 weeks for your friends and family.
It takes 12 weeks for rest of the world.
So Keep Going!

You have 24 days left this year to make a change in your life,
You have 24 days left this year to make an effort in your life,
You have 24 days left this year to make a difference in your life,
A 24 days deadline to make a small part of your dream come true.

Good Luck with whatever you want to accomplish! šŸ‘šŸ»

The next couple of months is going to be very challenging for me. The easiest thing is losing body weight but the hardest thing is losing body fat. In the next couple of months, I hope to drop down to less than 15% body fat and start building muscles šŸ’ŖšŸ» šŸ™ˆ.

For the next 1 year with the right diet, determination, dedication, and consistency Iā€™m going to make it happen this time!
